In May 2006 I was invited to make a project at 64 Campbell Road, Bow, East London. For eight months I worked with the young people that live in the building to explore different ways in which we could  - individually and collectively – transform the building into an environment – more personal. We started by opening doors, from the Common Room, extending to communal corridors, blocked store rooms and to the disused concrete exterior, proposing that each area could be used, to become spaces for living and making things together in.

Common Room Productions was the name of the overall project, that was organised in three different but interconnected parts: DIY Customize, DIY Garden and DIY Publish. For three months we worked with Invited Guests to make the alterations, resource and bring the building to life. In this website you will find pictures, video clips and written comments to guide you through the different processes we went through, and the things we made.

This website is offered as a resource for creative living, and I hope it will be of use to others beyond the scope of the original project
