WILDFLOWER MEADOW - TIPS & ADVICE
By: Termite - Low Impact Construction
Garden Build: 17.03.07 - 22.03.07
Planting: 22.04.07 & 02.05.07
Watering
During the establishment period, five weeks after planting (turf was layed on the April18, 2007), meadow turf should not be allowed the to dry out.
If dry spells occur during the first growing season, turf will require occasional watering.
Otherwise, the turf will cope in most conditions. However, occasional watering will improve growth, especially during hot sunny periods.
Fertilizing
No fertiliser is needed!
Mowing
Each autumn, after the plants have flowered and set seeds, cut the plants and remove cuttings by strimming and raking.
Cut the plants back to 2 to 3 inches (50 to 75 mm) in length. (Make sure the cutting tools are sharp.)
Weeding
Weeding shouldn’t be necessary as the thick grass composition of the turf acts as a weed blanket.
